College Trivia Benjamin Franklin founded the University of Pennsylvania in 1740. Harvard University is the oldest university in the U.S. – founded in 1636. MIT has more clubs and organizations than any other university or college in the U.S. – 330. Texas A&M is older than the University of Texas. Yale University has the largest community service organization of any college or university in the U.S. Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, is the first university in Texas – chartered in 1840. Reed College has 125 different species of trees on its 115-acre campus. Thomas Jefferson founded the University of Virginia in 1819. He also designed the campus. Reed College also has a 250 kilowatt Triga nuclear reactor on campus. Students have to pass an 8-hour Atomic Energy Commission exam before they can work there. The University of Denver has one of the best ice hockey teams in the U.S. Georgetown University is the oldest Jesuit university in the U.S. Amherst College offers a course called Murder. One of its most popular classes, it is always taught in a red room. The most popular major at Tufts University is International Relations.
